Hydrotherapy

Constitutional hydrotherapy was developed in the early 1900s by one of the first Naturopathic Doctors in the United States, O.G. Carroll. Dr. Carroll was inspired by healing practices that were already in use in European countries. This tried and true therapy utilizes alternating hot and cold water applications and low-volt electrical sine-wave stimulation over the back and abdomen to increase the delivery of oxygen, nutrients,
and immune support to our tissues. As a result, metabolic wastes, inflammation, and toxins are more efficiently removed from the body. These actions are useful when the body is in need of assistance with healing and/or detoxification.
Much of the healing action of this therapy occurs through the Vagus Nerve, also
known as Cranial Nerve 10. The Vagus nerve descends from the brain and innervates many of our organs, including the entire digestive tract, the heart, and the lungs. Engaging the Vagus Nerve through Constitutional Hydrotherapy tonifies all of these internal organs and provides a naturally calming effect on the brain.
